Five things I know about this:
1. Nikishin's a 24-year-old left-handed defenseman. He's 6-3, 218, he can skate and create, he's got one of the planet's harder shots, and he just helped the Hurricanes win it all.
2. Nikishin wants a lot of money as a restricted free agent and, because Tulsky's lacking cap space and can't find a taker for Jesperi Kotkaniemi's albatross of a contract, the team won't pay up and has, in fact, acknowledged taking calls on Nikishin.
3. Dubas has cap space that's the rough equivalent of his need at left defense. Which is to say, he's got an excess of both. Enough that he could eat Kotkaniemi's cash, too, and not have to give up much, if anything at all, in return.
4. Dubas also has so many NHL-contracted players in this camp that he also could conceivably sweeten the offer by throwing in an inexpensive prospect who's being blocked. There's no shortage of those.
5. So ... we're waiting for what, exactly?
• No, seriously, one move of that scope, and the whole offseason suddenly makes sense. Because this roster's set up for such a move.
Get younger and get better. That should be the goal. Hand in hand.

Щас есть возможность попробовать договориться с Кэролайной и подписать Никишина, а он совершенно не чешется.
