The Pens have re-assigned forward Daniel Sprong to the WBSPenguins.
Раст вернулся, поэтому счас Спронгу нет места в составе, так как Салливан заявляет что он видит Гюнцеля как вингера, а не центра, поэтому Деа остается в 4-м а Шейэн в 3-м

Coming off a disappointing 1-2 trip to California, the Penguins return to Pittsburgh just outside the Eastern Conference playoff field with 53 points. The Penguins, who are 15-7-1 inside the friendly confines of PPG Paints Arena, will host the Hurricanes and Wild this week before the All-Star break. I’ll have you covered this morning in Cranberry.
FOLLOW PRACTICE WITH BRADFORD
1:47: For what it’s worth, Daniel Sprong just left the Lemieux Complex … with his gear in a bag. Read into that what you want. Sprong was the odd-man out in line rushes during practice. He has two goals — both against the Islanders — in eight games.
1:45: Sullivan confirmed that Bryant Rust was cleared for contact for the first time since sustaining an upper body injury Dec. 27 vs. the Blue Jackets. Rust, who continued skating on his own during the recent west coast trip, split reps with Jake Guentzel on left wing on a third line centered by Riley Sheahan with Phil Kessel.
“We’ll see how he responds, but certainly he’s making significant progress,” Sullivan said.
Rust has four goals and 18 points in 38 games.
“I felt good out there today, that’s always a good thing,” Rust said.
1:46: Out since Dec. 27, Chad Ruwhedel also skated without restriction on Monday. “Felt really good to be back with the team,” he said. “Better than skating by yourself.” Ruhwedel, who was partnered with Cole, a recent healthy scratch, said he’ll likely be a game-time decision.
1:39: Jean-Sebastien Dea doesn’t mind if you call him Jean-Sebastien or J-S, as long as you call him an NHL player. Dea was recalled last week when Murray went on his personal leave of absence. Dea went without a point in games against the Kings and Sharks, while averaging a meager 3:59 in ice time.
Not that he’s complaining about that.
“It’s been good,” he was telling me. “It was good to meet the team in Cali there for a couple days. Obviously, my first call-up being at home. I think it’ll be fun this week at home. Hopefully, I get in some games.”
With Sullivan preferring Jake Guentzel at wing instead of third-line center, it would seem Dea will stick around for a little while longer.
In Wilkes-Barre, Dea was being counted on for offense. He has nine goals and 23 points in 36 AHL games this season. In the NHL, he is being counted on to use his speed, finish checks and win draws on the fourth line, where he’s been partnered with Tom Kuhnhackl and Ryan Reaves.
“The pace is a little faster, guys are quicker,” Dea said. “You have less time with the puck but generally my game is speed, so I think I can fit perfectly in this league.”
1:17: Ian Cole was one of many American-born players mourning the unexpected death of Jim Johansson, the assistant executive director of USA Hockey and the general manager of the 2018 U.S. Olympic men’s hockey team, at age 53.
“(Bleeping) sad, just terrible,” Cole told me. “Not that we were best friends, but he was certainly a guy that was a treat to be around. He was just a great guy. So sad. He was pretty recently married with a young child. Fifty-three, you don’t normally expect that to happen.”
Cole played for the U.S. National Development Team Program in his native Ann Arbor, Mich. and represented the U.S. at the 2008 and ’09 World Junior Championships.
“Speaking professionally, he did a ton of great things for USA Hockey,” Cole said.
Johansson died in his sleep in Colorado Springs on Sunday. He was just 53.
1:04: Hunwick reported no problems afterward. Apparently it was Sprong who accidentally put a shoulder into the defenseman driving him into the boards from behind.
11:46: Stretching commences, I’ll be headed to the room myself. Much more later.
11:44: Hunwick shaken up after taking hit behind net with No. 2 PP. He’s gone back to the room.
11:38: Hornqvist practices like he plays. Just gave Cole a pretty good shot in PP drill. For what it’s worth, Murray in goal vs. No. 1 unit.
11:36: Also, not nearly as loose as their last practice back in Pittsburgh. Going 1-2 and falling out of a playoff spot wipes away a few smiles.
11:31: From DK: Man, this is one whale of a brisk practice for a team that’s just gotten back from the West Coast. Sully’s doing everything he can to get rid of those airplane legs.
11:10: Phil Kessel now skating with third. Looks like they’re rotating Rust in and out. Daniel Sprong odd man out. So far.
11:09: The lines and pairs (for now):
Simon-Crosby-Sheary
Hagelin-Malkin-Hornqvist
Guentzel-Sheahan-Kessel/Rust
Kuhnhackl-Dea-Reaves
Dumoulin-Letang
Maatta-Schultz
Oleksiak-Hunwick
Cole-Ruhwedel
11:17: All three tenders are on the ice for practice, by the way.
11:03: Chad Ruwhedel also skating in yellow jersey.
11:01: And we’ve got some 3-on-3 half-ice action. Rust is with Ryan Reaves, Tom Kuhnhackl.
10:59: Mike Sullivan sounds the whistle and we’re under way.
10:58: Also on the ice in yellow jersey is Bryan Rust. He’s been out since Dec. 16.
10:58: Big crowd here. Do kids go to school anymore?
10:56: Greetings from suburbia where the Penguins have filtered on the ice for the start of practice. There are three goalies on the ice, including Matt Murray. Goalie hasn’t started since Dec. 27
